Blackpink’s Jennie, MAMAMOO’s Hwasa, Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany, actor Ryu Jun-yeol and Sandara Park were amongst the celebrities in attendance for the opening of Gentle Monster’s newest store — HAUS DOSAN.
Located in Dosan Park, South Korea, the eyewear brand’s latest parlour is a five-storey establishment featuring an unprecedented retail concept.
That is, housing eyewear brand Gentle Monster, cosmetic label Tamburins and dessert brand Nudake all under one roof. In a corner of the city’s luxurious precinct in Apgujeong Rodeo.
And celebrities are taking a roam prior to the store’s official opening on 24 Feb.
Korea-based Gentle Monster is illustrious for their atypical frames and tinted lenses. They are a common accessory easily spotted on Korean idols.
Akin to the brand’s bold and daring design concepts, the third storey showcases the brand’s full range of sunglasses, including Jennie’s personal favourite Linda 01.
Here’s a word of caution.
There’s a contraption that “might freak people out”, Jennie says in an interview. She’s referring to the six-legged invention, named The Probe — brainchild of Gentle Monster’s very own technological laboratory after a year of research.
If you happen to have a sweet tooth that day, pop by the basement for some artistic desserts at Nundake.
Otherwise, the uppermost deck of the building also houses art pieces by artists like Chulan Kwak, Mercedes Vicente and Casper Kang.
With the opening of HAUS DOSAN, Gentle Monster has plans to model this concept. The brand hopes to construct ‘HAUS SHANGHAI” in Shanghai, China in May.
The eyewear brand is also reportedly collaborating with Jennie’s labelmates, a twelve-piece boy band TREASURE. There are, however, no official details entailing the collaboration as of yet.
