MANILA – Korean actor Byeon Woo Seok captivated fans at his first sold-out fan meeting in Manila. The highly anticipated event “2024 Byeon Woo-seok Asia Fan Meeting Tour: Summer Letter in Manila,” took place on June 22 at the New Frontier Theater, marking a memorable moment for all Filo TongTongs.
Started his acting career in 2016 in the drama series ‘Dear My Friends,’ Byeon Woo Seok has already showcased his charisma and exceptional acting skills in various dramas. Noteworthy roles include his debut leading role in the film ‘20th Century Girl’ and his character as the main antagonist in the series ‘Strong Girl Namsoon.’ Additionally, he has made cameo appearances in popular series such as ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo,’ ‘Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,’ and ‘Welcome to Waikiki 2.’

Before meeting his fans, Byeon Woo Seok faced the members of the press and genuinely shared his preparations for the fan meeting as well as the success of his recent K-drama, ‘Lovely Runner’ which made his popularity enter global fame.
But just before the press conference began, Byeon Woo Seok entered the venue carrying bouquets of yellow roses, and personally handed one to each member of the media! This indeed underscores the actor’s sincere appreciation for the people around him.

Byeon Woo Seok: “Kumusta!”
The actor warmly greeted the press with his first Filipino word. Since this is his first visit to the Philippines, Woo Seok shared that he was thrilled to see all his fans.
Aside from his Filipino greeting, Kring Kim, the host of the press conference, made the actor to try various Tagalog words, including “Salamat” (Thank you), “Padayon” (Moving forward), and even the phrase “Uwi ka na. Hindi na ako galit.” (Please go home. I’m no longer angry.” which made the actor chuckle.
Byeon Woo Seok on the success of Lovely Runner
“I’m not still able to get along with the sudden popularity I’m getting.” Quoting the translator during the media conference, Woon Seok admitted.
He further expressed his amusement, acknowledging the big crowd and the unexpected warm welcome he received at the airport upon his arrival in Manila. “Also, me, just imagining that I am being in front of you doing a presscon, this itself is also a dream come true.” The actor added.
In his phenomenal K-drama “Lovely Runner,” Byeon Woo Seok revealed that he developed a connection with his character, Ryu Sun Jae, as he deeply related to him after reading the script. As he moves on to his next project, he hopes to find a story that captivates him again just as upon first reading of the script. For the genre, he would like to try a romantic comedy again!
The actor also reminisced about his memorable and favorite scenes in the series. These include Sun Jae’s first confession of his feelings to Sol in episode two and when he assures Sol that it’s okay if he dies as long as they’re together in episode ten.

“I’m very grateful that you all remember and appreciate me and show your love as being Sunjae of the Lovely Runner, and I think as an actor it’s achievement na nagugustuhan niyo ‘yung character na pino-portray ko.” The actor’s words were translated by the translator.
When asked how he wants people to remember him as an actor, Woo Seok expressed his hope that they will continue to support the future roles that he will portray. “For the future, on my next projects, I will appreciate and love when you also fall in love with the new character that I will be acting as.”
Fan meeting preparation
The actor’s third stop on his first fan meeting tour was in Manila. When asked about his preparation for his first fan meeting, Woo Seok admitted that he prepared his heart and hoped that everyone attending to have the best time with him.
“The biggest preparation that I am doing for the fanmeet is basically my thoughts and my heart that sana lahat ng mga tao who is coming just to see me, their time, their money, and their effort just to make tomorrow happen, I wish they would go home with good memories and sana na-appreciate nila ‘yung time that I spent together with my fans.”

Message to Filipino fans
Before the press conference ended, the actor gave a final message to his supporters.
“Thank you so much for your overwhelming love, also to Ryu Sunjae and for the Lovely Runner.” The actor expressed sincerely, thanking nonstop his fans for their unwavering support.
Byeon Woo Seok also hinted at exciting things to come, teasing his upcoming project for release in a few months!
