NewJeans reunites with fans in the Philippines, and spectacular performances from Filipino acts shine bright at the Coke Studio: The Ultimate Fandom Concert

Sweet like BUBBLEGUM!

How sweet does combining music and coke at a concert feel like? All of it was made possible during the recent Coke Studio: The Ultimate Fandom Concert, which was held on September 5, 2024, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

After their first visit in December 2023, South Korean girl group NewJeans returned to headline the fandom concert alongside OPM and Coke Studio Season 8 artists Alamat, Nik Makino, Kyle Echarri, Illest Morena, and Zack Tabudlo. The arena was packed with fans, including Philippine Bunnies and Teokkis, eager to witness NewJeans members Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein perform live on stage. Performing “ETA” on stage sparked the crowd’s enthusiastic singing and dancing. “It feels so lovely to be here in Manila today,” Hanni said after the group introduced themselves and received a warm welcome in response. Danielle added, “Thank you so much for spending time with us tonight, Salamat po!” Hyein happily said, “We had so much fun in the Philippines, so we’re looking forward to returning and performing for you today.”

NewJeans performed “Bubblegum”, “Supernatural”, and “How Sweet” for the first time on the Philippine stage. With the loudest cheers heard and the crowd singing along, Hyein said, “You guys sang so energetically, despite performing our new songs for the first time here in the Philippines. It makes us so happy.” Danielle added, “Hearing your voices here on stage completes our songs, it’s the cherry on top.” Haerin and Minji shared that they were moved by the enthusiasm of their Filipino fans at the Asia Artist Awards 2023 in December, where they got the Daesang Song of the Year Award for their song “Ditto”. The whole arena screamed out of joy as Minji said, “I’m sure you are aware that Filipinos are very famous for how they sing especially at concerts.”

The quintet girl group had a photo time with the crowd before ending their stage set with “Zero”, which is part of Coca-Cola Korea’s Coke Zero campaign. Hanni promises to return to the Philippines with Minji saying, “See you again!”

On the other hand, homegrown Coke Studio Season 8 artists showcased their amazing voices and moves on stage. P-pop boy group Alamat graced the night with “Maharani“, “Noli”, “Day and Night”, and “Dayang”. Alamat is a multilingual and multiethnic Ppop boy group composed of members Taneo, Mo, Tomás, R-ji, Alas, and Jao. Nik Makino was the next on stage to hype the crowd with “Sobrang Solid,” “Sipag Lang,” “KG (Kay Ganda),” “Moon,” and “We Made It.” Illest Morena performed on stage with “Slow Burn,” “Pick Up,” “Faded,” and “Sabik.” It was followed by Kyle Echarri with “Pangako,” “Dyosa,” “Panaginip,” and “Cupid’s Aim.” Lastly, Zack Tabudlo as the first-ever Filipino Coke Studio global artist got the whole arena fall in love with his songs “Nangangamba,” “Pano,”  “Love is Dead,” and “Give Me Your Forever,”

The Coke Studio PH Concert will not be complete without collaboration stages with their Coke Studio tracks. Alamat and Nik Makino performed “Ngayong Gabi“, while Kyle Echarri and Illest Morena performed “Believe”, and Zack Tabudlo sang “Fallin,” his Coke Studio song in collaboration with South African rapper Nasty C.

Coke Studio: The Ultimate Fandom Concert brings artists and their fans together to create magic moments in one memorable night. Coke Studio PH continues to be the platform for showcasing the voices of Filipino artists then and now and spreading the message of love and happiness through music and Coke.
